EDAR8 Workshop: Novel, quantitative methods in AMR research and surveillance

Aims: The workshop introduces, compares, and discusses novel methods to quantify AMR markers in metagenomic DNA and/or to identify their genetic context.
Background: Selecting an adequate method for AMR quantification requires knowledge about pros and cons. Comprehensive, unbiased information is often difficult to obtain, especially for novel methods.
Workshop Participants and Activity: The workshop addresses users and developers of quantitative technologies for analyzing metagenomic DNA. It combines short presentations and discussions.
Participants will:
- Learn about EIS-based sensors for specific quantification of marker sequences
- Understand the pros and cons of ddPCR and qPCR in environmental applications
- Learn and discuss about two contrasting approaches to gene context identification: multiplex ddPCR and long-read metagenomic sequencing
- Contribute to identifying promising applications and benchmarks
- Ideally join collaborative technology development
